cuddle Therapy

‘A hug heals and expresses what words do not.’ - Nathalie Pownall (quote of your choice)

In the fast paced, insular society we live in, increasing numbers of people, regardless of age or gender, are expressing feelings of isolation, loneliness and a lack of physical contact. Humans are hardwired for physical touch but in our hyper sexualised digital world, touching each other in a non sexual manner has mostly been outlawed for fear it will be misinterpreted as sexual. Moreover, the lack of and need for physical touch is often not about having a sexual need met, but the very human need for a safe and warm embrace; one that allows your nervous system to settle, your breathing to relax, and your mind to calm. In essence, for your body to come home to yourself.

WHAT IS CUDDLE THERAPY?
Cuddle therapy offers a safe space to be platonically held by a trained and certified professional.

Cuddle therapy is a non sexual activity, and establishing this boundary from the start allows
individuals to relax and enjoy the healing pleasure and power of touch. Cuddle therapy offers many benefits; it has been reported to reduce stress and anxiety, boost the immune system, and create a sense of overall well being.

WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT?
Sessions last 60 minutes. They are held 1:1 between a client and the certified hug practitioner in the tranquility and safety of our treatment room. The therapist will explain the treatment, discuss expectations and offer gentle and safe methods of touch which the client may like to receive. Sessions are guided by the practitioner and tailored towards the individual client needs to ensure the client is comfortable and boundaries are respected at all times. Breathing exercises and visualisation techniques may also be used to aid relaxation and a sense of calm throughout the treatment.

Time will be given at the end for the client to share their experience of the session and how they are feeling now. It is not a time of therapy per se but an opportunity to nurture and conclude the session with positive intentions.

If you would like to book a session, please head to the appointment section to do so.
